I was pretty sick and tired of online dating sites that boasted millions of members from around the world. What good does that do me? Why would I want to date someone 1,000 miles away? I heard about cupid.com from a friend, who said this dating site focuses on connecting local daters. I’m the adventurous type, so I decided to join cupid.com and share my experience with other local daters out there.
On cupid.com, the site maintains that the best way to find romance is to find someone who lives close to you (hey, I’ve never been a believer in the long-distance relationship).Once I join (you can sign up for a free basic membership), I was able to fill out a profile that included some photos, a brief bio, a physical description, and a list of personal interests. Once my profile was filled out, I was able to start browsing other singles in my area. You can search for friendship, e-mail, nothing serious or marriage. Since I just got out of a relationship and wanted to see what was out there, I set my cupid.com settings for nothing serious.
Like most online dating sites, cupid.com won’t let you contact anyone unless you upgrade your membership. There are a few options to try out: 3-day trial ($6.57); 1 month ($39.99); 3 months ($74.97); and 6 months ($113.94). With the cupid.com upgrade, you can email and chat with other members, as well as get priority access to customer support.
Just a few of the cool features that cupid.com offers was the fact that members have access to their very own blog and can contribute to the community forum. As well, you can see who viewed your cupid.com profile and see who is online right now to chat with. If you’re handy with video, you can set up a video profile on cupid.com. That was a little out of my comfort zone, but saw quite a few people who had one, and who knows… I may put one up one of these days!
I’ve only been on cupid.com for about 2 weeks now and have gotten in touch with a few great people. I’m going to stick with cupid.com for a few more weeks to see if any dates come out of it. So far, so good – I really like my chances with cupid.com. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my progress.
